Meet the Doctors

Dr. James Owens

Dr. James B. Owens opened Winyah Chiropractic Clinic on January 2,1972 and has been in continuous practice in the same location since that date. He has always strived to give the very best chiropractic care to the residents of Georgetown County and the surrounding area.

Dr. Owens is a native of Conway, S.C., where he graduated from Conway High School and attended Coastal Carolina University. He graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport- Iowa in June of 1971 and began private practice here in Georgetown in 1972.

Since arriving in Georgetown, Dr. Owens has strived to be a valuable part of his local and state community. From 1977 to 1984 he served as a member of the Georgetown City Council. He was a founding member and served as president of the Georgetown Breakfast Rotary Club. He is a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow and was selected as the Georgetown Breakfast Rotarian of the Year in 2000. Dr. Owens has served on numerous boards during the past 36 years.

On the state level he served as President of the South Carolina Chiropractic Association in 1983. He served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the South Carolina Chiropractic Association from 1984 to 1986. He was also selected as South Carolina's Chiropractor of the Year in 1983. Dr. Owens has been a member of the Parker Chiropractic Research Foundation in Fort Worth, Texas for over 30 years.

Throughout his career he has studied to stay abreast of the latest advancements in chiropractic including the areas of sports injury and applied kinesiology. He even traveled to Beijing, China to study acupuncture.

He and his wife, Carolyn, live in the Choppee section of Georgetown County and have two sons. Jason who lives in Myrtle Beach and Ryan who lives in Georgetown along with his wife Mandy and daughter Emma. He is an active member of Wayne United Methodist Church in Maryville, where he teaches Sunday School. He is actively involved in high school and collegiate athletics. He co-founded the International Paper Baseball Classic and the Baseball at the Beach Tournament in Myrtle Beach. Dr. Owens is dedicated to providing Georgetown with the best chiropractic care possible.  Dr. Owens' favorite pastime is spolling his grandaughter.




Dr. James Seaton

Dr. Jim Seaton was born in Paducah, Kentucky. At the age of one his family moved to Great Mills, Maryland where he attended public school and graduated from Great Mills High School in May of 2000. After graduation from high school Jim attended David Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee where he obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science in August of 2004. He then enrolled at Logan College of Chiropractic in Chesterfield, Missouri. Dr. Seaton received his Doctor of Chiropractic Degree from Logan College of Chiropractic in August of 2008. Upon completion of his National and South Carolina boards he joined the staff of Winyah Chiropractic Clinic in December of 2008. Dr. Seaton says that he is extremely excited about the opportunity to practice in Georgetown and is looking forward to continuing the history of community service that has been provided by Winyah Chiropractic Clinic over the past 36 years.  Dr. Seaton is currently engaged to Lauren McClary of Georgetown and the wedding is planned for the fall of 2011. He is looking forward to becoming a viable part of the Georgetown community. Jim's hobbies include working out at the gym, fishing, tennis and racquetball.
